ABA for Individuals with Developmental Delays

  • Direct BCBA Intervention: Most ABA service providers have an “expert” (the Board Certified Behavior Analyst [BCBA]) train a registered behavior technician (RBT) to provide services directly to your child, while the BCBA is only present (sometimes only remotely) for about 20% of the time. JD ABA serves both the role of the RBT and the BCBA, which means that the expert is with your child 100% of the time, designing and modifying treatment on a moment-to-moment basis. This is compared to relying on the observations of a less experienced practitioner (the RBT), who then must communicate these observations to the BCBA, who in turn takes time to make the necessary clinical decisions, discuss with the caregivers, and train the RBT to implement them. Unfortunately, this model sometimes results in necessary changes in treatment being implemented far too late. Ensure the best outcomes by working directly with a BCBA.

  • Parent Coaching: Learn the principles and strategies that will allow you to see the same gains outside of session that are happening in session with the BCBA. The BCBA will work with you to problem-solve difficult areas such as sleep routines, social interactions, communication, transitions, toileting, and more.

  • Assessment: Get skill and behavioral assessment from a BCBA with almost a decade of experience getting approvals from insurance companies.

  • Consultation on Ongoing Cases: Get a second opinion from a doctoral student in the field. In this private pay option, the caregiver or BCBA on the case can leverage the knowledge and skill that comes from being on the frontlines (and steeped in time-tested strategies) of our field via a doctoral program in ABA. Constructional Coaching

Behavior analysis can be leveraged to better the lives of everyone, not just those diagnosed with developmental delays. Constructional coaching involves remote, one-hour weekly meetings geared towards articulating your ideal life, collaboratively developing goals and plans, analyzing barriers, and monitoring progress. No diagnosis is required; private pay only. The process is as follows:

  • Complete a questionnaire with the coach.

  • The coach will present their analysis with outlines for possible goals and plans. It is then determined whether a contract will be created for further services. Contracts, goals, and plans are always subject to revision.

  • As a means of progress monitoring, various logs will be introduced for the client to prepare for each meeting. Logs will be analyzed collaboratively and planning for subsequent weeks will be determined.

  • Gradually, the logs will become second-nature to the client, enabling them to become their own analyst. Services are terminated when the conditions of the contract have been met, or when either party deems the work concluded.

Let this evidence-based approach help you to build the meaningful life everyone deserves.
